Key points
  • The Wolseley will open its first hotel in New York in early 2027, launching The Wolseley Hotels brand.
  • The 76-room hotel will be located at 130 West 44th Street in Midtown Manhattan, in the former Lambs Club building.
  • The property will centre on The Wolseley New York restaurant, offering all-day European café dining, alongside a speakeasy bar and wellness space.

The Wolseley is expanding from its London home to New York, where it will open its first hotel in early 2027. The project marks the launch of The Wolseley Hotels, a new brand developed following the acquisition of The Wolseley Hospitality Group by Minor Hotels in 2025.

The Wolseley Hotel New York will be located at 130 West 44th Street in Midtown Manhattan’s Theatre District. The building, constructed in 1905 and designed by McKim, Mead & White, was originally home to The Lambs Club, a private members’ club tied to the early Broadway theatre scene.

The hotel will have seventy-six rooms and suites. At its centre will be The Wolseley New York, the brand’s first restaurant in the United States and its North American flagship. Like its London counterpart, it will operate as an all-day dining room, serving European café classics from breakfast through late evening. A cellar-level speakeasy bar will sit beneath the main restaurant.

In London, The Wolseley has built its reputation on consistency. Since opening in 2003, it has maintained a fixed menu and a recognisable format, becoming a regular fixture for breakfast meetings, afternoon tea, and late dinners. The New York restaurant is expected to follow the same model.

The hotel will also include a wellness centre and additional social spaces extending the restaurant beyond dining.

“The launch of The Wolseley Hotels marks an important step for the group,” Dillip Rajakarier said in a statement, describing the New York property as the brand’s first flagship. Further sites are planned across Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East.
